Our church is beginning a Single Adult or Young Adult Ministry. Can you help us get started?

Most groups start one of several ways:

  • A Sunday morning class before the church service, either in the church building or at another location
  • A mid-week night
  • A weekend night

Some general guidelines:

It is best to group the ages…19-25, 23-35 (or 20’s and 30’s), and 30+ if you have a large church. Two groups (19- 29 and 30+) will do better in a mid-size church. A small church may only be able to target one age group, or may need to join with another evangelical church in the area for sponsoring a ministry.

Find a few people (male and female if possible, married or single) who have a desire to work with one of the age groups. Remarried couples will relate to the 30 yr. + group. First marriage couples relate to the young adult ages 18-35.

Get them together for an initial meeting and ask for ideas about meeting frequency, types of social activities, topics for teaching, etc. Get them involved! Allow for a lot of discussion.
