Challenges of a Blended Family
Healthy things grow. Growing things change. Changing things challenge us. Challenge causes us to trust God. Trust leads to obedience. Obedience makes us healthy. And healthy things grow.
The decision to shift gears from being a single-parent household to a blended-family household is usually made by a man and a woman. It starts when two people fall in love and sincerely believe that everything else will fall into place when they get married.
Some things to consider:
- Falling in love doesn't keep a blended family from falling apart.
- Change is a process, not an event. What tears at the fiber of a blended family so often is not the love that a father and mother have for each other but their ability to understand and teach everyone involved this principle.
- Tune into all that is going on inside of your kids as they face their changes and think through what they mean to them.
