Few things remain the same when you make the transition from a primary family to a single-parent family to a blended family. Within the space of two or three years, many people take those quantum leaps.
It's a huge quantum leap to go from a two-parent family to becoming a single-parent family. When the transition is made from single parent to blended-family-parent, initially a sigh of relief comes from both adults. Finally, help has arrived and a team can be in harness again in their family structure. Everyone rejoices… until they begin to face the inevitable changes that come. For some unknown reason, many new couples expect this new challenge to be a walk in the park on a sunny day. Their sheer optimism and the fact that they are in love with each other, they believe, should preclude any rain from falling on their parade. That attitude changes the first time a storm comes.
